In the Hackberry

Sadly I’ve not had time to paint lately, but I have been squeezing in some lunchtime sketching where I’ve been drawing lots of leaves and birds. Maybe it’s the changing season here in the Bay Area. Saw this guy the other morning, and hoping to turn him into a painting before long!

South Street

Lately I’ve been trying to doing some more ‘on location’ sketching in an attempt to improve my drawing. This is along South Street in Philadelphia which funnily enough reminded me a bit of the Haight in San Francisco, with lots of bars, restaurants, and boutiques.

Been playing around with Crow Quill pens and ink and I’ve been really enjoying the bleedy,rough qualities of line I can get. Here’s my first real attempt with them. Learned some things along the way that I can’t wait to put to use on the next one!
